Have motor pods been upgraded?

I recently sent my Solo in to 3DR for a Pixhawk issue. The Pixhawk was replaced as well as all 4 motor pods. I had a lot of hours on my Solo but the motors ran smooth and quiet. First I thought they were replaced due to the hours on them but I've since seen other low hour RMA's that also had all 4 motor pods replaced during repair.

My old pods were not returned so I have nothing to compare too. I never had any motor issues or failures and I wasn't easy on them. Just curious if these pods are an upgrade?

I'd be curious to know as well...and possibly real world working examples to evaluate wear and tear. I like when manufactures evaluate equipment for the sake of improvements. I think 3DR is that type of company. #FLY3DR
