Do i have to have the GPS on my cell phone turned on in order to work my drone

Do you HAVE TO? No. Should you? Yes. The maps, weather, airport warnings, return-to-me, and follow mode smart shots require the phone's GPS. If you don't mind those features being disabled, you do not need the GPS on.
