I could not get to play video through the HDMI output of the controller. Some special features cable necessary? Not compatible with adapters mini to micro? I tried 3 different cables and fails to see anything

If it is a regular micro to standard HDMI. I would call in. Mine just works.

Some configuration is required to enable the port? it is har to believe my 3 hdmi cables doesnt work

Nope. No config. But as an example, I also know HDMI couplers are directional. If you know the cable(s) good, I would call it in. If you have some funky setup, I would just spring for a cable and make sure. I was lucky, and already had a straight through cable from another camera.
