Aftermarket antenna

Hi Ian. For what it is worth, I just received my FPVLR antennas today. I haven't tried them yet, but from all the homework I did on them, I concluded they were the best for me with what I want to do. I want the ability to go out farther if I choose to, but my main goal is a stronger signal on shorter flights. I had Tony's antennas on my P2 for the same goals, and they were great. So, for the money, that is what I chose. I will get back with the results vs the stock antennas. I have the same question about prop balancing, and keep getting different opinions, so hopefully someone can enlighten us both on that matter. Have a good one, and safe flying.

Hey I see a lot on updating the antennas for the Solo to aftermarket ones like FPVLR. What are your thoughts on these? At $129 it seems to be a worthy investment if they work like they say they do.
Also, what about prop balancing? Is this something I should really do?

Tell me how well it works, I've heard nothing but great things!
I can't afford that right now so I just purchased dual Alfa 2.4Ghz 7.1dBi for now. it was only $20. While not as a good as the FPVLR at least its better than the stock antennas

Thanks for the replies guys! I appreciate the help. I think I am going to wait for my gimbal and do some more flying around before I drop even more money on antennas (Even though I am certain I will be buying the FPVLR ones anyways).

Got my fplr antennas last Friday. Had test flight Sunday in heavy wifi area with two cell towers near by. I got between 1/2 mile to 3/4 mile. I tried another flight today in congested town and got over 2500 ft. And turned around. Could have gone little farther. I am sure I will get over a mile in open country. I have not boosted antennas. The live view is much clearer and the feedback is faster. Much improved signal around trees. Highly recommend.

I tried my new antennas from FPVLR today. In a very clean area from wifi signals, the stock antennas did 3300' before showing no signal bars. It did not RTH, but I brought it back in. I flew back on a route that put a bunch of trees between Solo and the controller and it showed from 1 signal bar, up to 3 bars at about 300-400' away. I will say that is a lot better than before the recent update. I then switched to the FPVLR antennas, and flew the same route at the same altitude (200'). I got out to 5134' with 1-2 bars left on signal. I could have gone farther, but chose not to, due to electrical lines in the area which I could not see from where I was when I took off. I flew back with the same trees between Solo and myself, and never had less than 3 bars signal strength. Overall I was real happy with the setup Tony provided, and the video quality was fantastic. I will do another test with quite a lot of wifi noise around to see how that compares. So far, I highly recommend the FPVLR's.
