Can the tablet connect to controller w/o Wi-Fi (wired)?

Seems that having the phone Wi-Fi on would diminish signal clarity for the controller. Can you connect your phone/tablet using only a wired connection, and keep your phone/tablet in Airplane mode with Wi-Fi off?

When are we getting optical flow for the Solo, we have the answer!

So why can't the video from the gopro be used by the onboard computer for optical stabilization/flow?

Prevent motor pod failure during flight?

What checks can be done to make sure you're not going to get a motor pod suddenly dying during a flight? What are the tell-tale signs of a risky motor pod? Is it going to just slowly get less powerful or go quickly? Are you going to start to hear it when it's about to fail? I know there are...

Why are the Solo batteries so heavy/large even though they are only 5200 mAh?

Why are the Solo batteries so heavy/large even though they are only 5200 mAh? It's less than twice the mAh of most tiny smartphone batteries, but many times heavier.

What the hell is wrong with the Batteries failing so fast!

This is what I think we'll ultimately end up doing. Also, although it would be nice to use the Solo until it's so old it's ancient tech, but in three years drone tech will be so good we'll be able to buy something better than the Solo for like $300 new. Although for someone to make a mid-range...

Remote in refurbished Solo purchase from 3dr: no WiFi

I guess it's just the one red and the blinking orange. I think. Either way, no green.

Yeah I think I'll need to. Now when the remote isn't finding Solo, there are two solid red LEDs and the blinking orange.

Remote in refurbished Solo purchase from 3dr: no WiFi

Huh. Now it happens to be working and connected to solo. Yesterday out in the field it wouldn't pair with Solo despite many reboots of Solo and the controller. Do you think there could be some flaky hardware in the controller that is beginning to fail? Seems like if yesterday it wasn't working...

A red, a green and a blinking orange. No SSID being broadcast though.

Remote in refurbished Solo purchase from 3dr: no WiFi

I went to turn it on just now. It was at 50% charge last night and it discharged itself to zero overnight. I'll get it a bit of a charge and get back to you. Regardless there is apparently a problem. That high pitched sound must have been the sound of an active electrical current or other issue...

Thanks for expounding. I also noticed that even after powering off the controller, there is a high pitched hiss I can hear if I put my ear near the back of it. Even a minute after it's been off.

I would be pretty uncomfortable flying with a controller that is so flaky. Seems like it must be soldering that can have a good enough connection depending on physical state. Like temperature or giving it a bump. Scary to fly with that.

You mean to use their controller with my Solo? Yeah if this were a common problem we'd be hearing about it on this forum a lot. Maybe we're just unlucky or there is a bizarre shelf life to the soldering or something.

Also, similar to you, the controller signal worked fine the first time I pulled it out and turned it on in my home. SSID was visible from devices and it connected fine to Solo. But yeah yesterday I take it out for a (refurbished) maiden flight and the SSID is not showing up on my mobile device...
