Can the tablet connect to controller w/o Wi-Fi (wired)?

Seems that having the phone Wi-Fi on would diminish signal clarity for the controller. Can you connect your phone/tablet using only a wired connection, and keep your phone/tablet in Airplane mode with Wi-Fi off?

This is a none issue. The apps specifically use your phones WiFi to communicate with the controller. The controller's wifi is going to far out power your phones wifi signal when talking to the drone. So there's no advantage in trying to set up some sort of wired connection from the phone to the controller.
