Yes it will work, but you won't be able to adjust the GoPro settings from the Solo App. Need the 3+ or 4 for that.

What about the 3+ Silver (plus), will the controls work on that?

Reports show that the 3+ Silver does not have full functionality with Solo. For full camera features, you need the 3+ Black and above.

You can put a 3 black in the drone and power it on manually
you will have no control over it at all
