U.N. Bans lipo's on aircraft

Recently there was a news report about the United Nations voting to impose a temporary ban on lithium batteries on all aircraft.
Did anybody else see this? I haven't been able to find it again.

There weren't any details regarding which countries will actually participate, if batteries are now banned from carry-on, etc. I got the impression it is a total ban meaning batteries from China will have to be shipped by boat.

No details on the length of the ban either.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the number of battery fires with the electronic cigarette fires that has been in the news recently? They explode with no warning, and there have been several injuries with them.

what are you saying ? if you travel to Australia with your Solo, you have to come here by boat, or otherwise arrive with no batteries ?

U can still fly with Lipo, no spares allowed though and max 100 watts hour battery size.

you can't pack them in your checked baggage, that's all.
Everything else is as it was.
Moreover, the UN ban may still be superceded by airlines.

The article wasn't really specific- I thought it might be related to battery fires in hoverboards. I was hoping somebody else would have more details.

As far as batteries go, just carry them on. One thing in those articles that stood out was how difficult it is to extinguish a lipo fire- especially on an airplane in flight. I guess storing them in a good lipo bag is all you can do.
