Am now confused ! Have Solex app (v 1.8.5) on both my Solos. They work fine. Now somebody tells me I MUST also install Open Solo ??? WTF !

IDK who told you that, but they obviously don't know what they're talking about. A few things. First Solex is an Android app on your phone or tablet. It is not installed on the solos. And Open Solo is not required in order to use the Solex App. Open Solo is firmware that is installed on the Solo and Controller, and has nothing to do with the app on your phone or tablet. If you want to install Open Solo, Solex can do it for you. Instructions are in the link in my signature.
