I've used a mat like this for shoots on snow and dirt or grass. They are very inexpensive, roll up nice for easy transport, very light.

That's funny. Have same one as shown in the picture. I think it was about $5 at the dollar store.

I bought this to take along on a shoot I did for a Snowcat operation. I was on a snowboard, and was able to roll it up and strap it to my Solo back back. We had about 18 inches of fresh snow, and would have never been able to take off or land with out it.
