From the first day I received my Solo I have had intermittent video problems. Sometimes it worked and other times it didn't. I followed all of the suggestions from the 3dr site, but nothing worked. I then called 3dr tech support and got some more suggestions. Again nothing worked. I called 3dr again to request an RMA to get the Solo fixed. The guy I spoke to suggested one final item. Reboot the iPad. It worked. Three different times I got no video feed when I powered up the Solo and controller. The reboot of the iPad worked each time. So for those of you who have had the same problem as me, give this a try if you haven't already. Hopefully down the road there is some software fix in the app.
