Wow that sucks, I'm happy to report I've been flying here all over for about two years now and even the skeptical folks have eventually showed more interest than dislike. I've had nothing but great reactions especially since getting solo, everybody loves this thing around the area, knock on wood. Good luck dealing with the uneducated or ignorant folks their obviously all over now days, I just hope to not come across any if possible, so far so good at least dealing with this subject anyway. Other things in every day life obviously I see plenty of idiots, luckily if any have been around they've been to weird or shy to approach me.
