Open Solo is the way to go (the only way to go) these days since the Solo app is no longer available or supported by 3DR. Search this forum for it. I converted 2 of my birds to Open Solo. I have an older phone with the app on it so my 3rd bird does have the Solo app and it still works fine...

The 3Dr app still works fine. I use mine all the time. The only challenge you may have is if you have a newer phone. The app is not compatible and will not work or work properly with newer phones. Search the forum for this and you will soon find which updated versions of ios and android work...

Like most everybody else has said, I have a shelf divided into 3 piles. The dead pile (5 of them), the pile of batteries that have a short flying time life of 7-10 minutes which I don't use anymore (3 of them) and the pile of batteries that are new and never used that I check from time to time...
