With the REV B GPS board, if I am flying in a place I have flown before, I usually receive 10 - 12 satellite lock within 30 seconds to 1 minutes of booting the Solo. If I am flying in a place I have never flown before, GPS lock does take a little longer, but usually no more than 5 minutes tops...

You can always update your Solo to Solo firmware v1.5.3 ... link to the 3drpilots.com discussion thread explaining how to do it, and what it does exactly.... the short and sweet of it is, v1.5.3 of the Solo firmware includes functionality for automatically determining when to Return to Home...

I have 3 Solo's, of which all 3 have the REV. B GPS module installed. I haven't had any issues with the REV. B GPS boards at all, and consistently lock on 12 satellites and 0.7 HDOP. I did do the Cardboard spacer mod on my primary Solo just to see if it made any different in GPS...

Nice to see that B&H has restocked the Solo Gimbal ... Kind of interesting that previously they have marked these as "discontinued" and now they have more stock... I wonder if that is an indication that these gimbals are still being factory produced?

I have owned my Solo since June 1st 2017, 140 flights recorded in Solex and 1 crash. Pilot error, flying about 3 feet off the ground and under / around trees, lost GPS signal and couldn't hit Fly Manual quick enough before the Solo hit a tree, flipped over and shut off. No damage or broken...

I am having the same issue with v 1.5.6 of Solex. When going into flight mode, it says at the top "ready to arm"... when arming for takeoff, and with props spinning, the "ready to arm" message does not go away and is blocking alt/speed and other info that is important info when flying.

I have the Mikrotik WiFi card installed in my controller, and also have a second one to go in the Solo when I can find the time to tear the Solo apart and install it. With just the MikroTik card in the controller, and with two Alfa antenna's, I have reached 5800' in an area with no WiFi...

E-Bay seller "speedstuffsales" has Gimbals (new, unopened) for $159.99 and has "more than 10 available" if anyone is looking. I just purchased an additional 1 to go with the 2 I already have. Until 3DR releases the Gimbal code, best bet would be to have a couple spares laying around.

Yep, looks like most of the kit/combo deals have been "discontinued" as well. No Gimbal available from BandH as a stand alone purchase either, is it says "discontinued" for stand-alone Gimbal item listing on BandH's website.

Might be worth noting that 3DR is selling refurb units on Amazon for $179.99 link to 3DR Solo on Amazon... Currently it does show as unavailable, but they are adding stock on a regular basis.

That makes sense concerning the cone region/return to home when near the takeoff point. I usually dont run the controller battery that low, guess I should remember next time to check the controller battery before leaving the house and to make sure I have the controller charger with me as well...

I would definitely go the route of buying from B and H photo ... B and H has great customer service, is an authorized 3DR Solo dealer (if you ever need 3DR warranty support, it is my understanding that 3DR will only honor warranty on units that have been purchased from authorized...

I don't believe you need the carrier board, as the green cube should be a direct replacement for the pixhawk 2.0 cube that the Solo ships with from the factory. I was planning to order one myself, but it doesn't look as though there will be anymore available from Proficnc or JestersDrones...
