GoPro seems to be focusing on quantity rather than quality. I'd but 2 or 3 Hero5's if they changed the lens and instituted DNG files instead of just JPG.

When I was fooling around with the controller, you could hit one of the buttons, and watch the lcd screen show the gimbal moving up/down at a certain rate. That's where I got that from. If it works, it will indeed be awesome.

I use the Silver, but that's because I use it for other things than aerial footage. The price is right there. If I were to use a GoPro purely for mounting on the Solo, I'd get the Black.

If it sounds prudent, it's probably worthwhile. Can't hurt, and can only help. The P3 is having vibration issues with the props and some folks are getting cracks in the airframe.
