I would love to know what I did wrong so I don't make the same mistake. Should I recycle the battery? Make I put the toothpick in a wrong hole?

Smoke came out of my solo. I'm not sure if I can still use it. While resetting solo, I held fly + power. After check updates appeared on transmitter, I put toothpick in pair button & powered on solo. Then smoke immediately appeared.

I believe I paired bird with gcs. Does that entail: 1. Hold power + fly on controller - Press A 2. Toothpick in Pair hole + power button of bird Thanks Bruce!
