The only way to find out whether this was pilot error or a problem with Solo is to submit your logs to 3DR. You can also find directions on how to download them yourself and use Mission Planner to read the logs, which will show the last known GPS point.

Lost an LED cover and it looks like 3DR doesn't sell them any more. I thought I read that someone made 3d printed replacements but I searched and didn't find anything. Does anyone have some for sale?

This works best for straight down shots (as you can see, most of mine are like that). I just fly over and take as many shots as I think I need, making sure to get a good overlap.

I use Solo for stills a lot. As Jon said, no focus for GoPro, set ISO to 400 (it will stay lower than that until it needs more light), and "record during shots" is only for smart shots. No need for ND filter for stills, that is only useful to reduce jello on video. On stills a ND will just...
