I'll be honest, when the video was first shared here, I clicked on it because I unwittingly thought it was an official announcement from 3DR based on how the title was framed. I made it through about 30 seconds before I closed it.

Well, apparently the latest word from the folks at 3DR is that the gimbal won't be shipping until mid-August. Until then, i'll continue to enjoy flying my P3 Pro which has been flawless. My Solo flies well enough, but I have experienced software issues with the Solo app on various devices.

Has anyone used a Pelican 1600 or an HPRC 2700 for a Solo yet? I've used a 1600 and an HPRC 2700 with a Phantom 2 and Phantom 3 and they were fantastic. I take my drones on off-road expeditions so a heavy-duty, watertight case is an absolute must for me.

Based on what i've read, I agree with it not being a fully-baked product at current moment. Once the bugs are worked out, I do believe it has a lot of potential, due to it's modular and open source background.

Oh believe me, I've read through many of the threads regarding the particular issues this quad has been experiencing. I took a leap of faith when I ordered it, so I hope it all works out in the end.
