Hi everyone,

I need your advice on something that came to mind a few days ago. As some of you may know, I am a forum sponsor. I am asking a genuine question to end users on an idea I had. I am seeking for feedback before I decide to implement or not this idea.

I was thinking of implementing a monthly payment system to content creators who post content for sale on our site. This monthly payment would increase in amount based on the number of clips they have available for sale on the site.

The idea here is to support content creators who display their footage and help build our initial database of content.

So I have a few questions.

1- Does this idea make sense to you. Is this a different and original approach?

2- If the answer to the above is 'yes', what would you consider being a reasonable amount we should pay on a monthly basis for people who post 50, 100, 250 and 500+ clips on the site.

Your thoughts on the topic are appreciated.

Cheers

Patrice

I don't know what you are referring to. Do you mean people who are selling stuff for Solo like skins, antennas, etc.?
Or video clips? I didn't know people were selling video.

I am with Maddog. I am a bit confused by what is considered "content for sale". Maybe give us an example, and it might make it clearer to us. Thanks.

Yes, this relates to sale of videos. We specialise in exotic 4K aerial footage. You can see our banner on this forum. The company name is Aerial Entertainment Studios.

You can have a look at this link for a better idea of what we do: Sell your footage

Cheers and let me know your thoughts.

I think the problem you're going to run into, at least in the US for the time being, is that you have to have a private pilot's license and a 333 exemption to make any money with drones/multirotors, and selling footage after the fact still qualifies as commercial use. That's going to preclude most likely the vast majority of people flying and taking videos.

Thanks for your note. That may be right with regards to footage actually shot in the USA, but that is not our target. We really focus on the exoticism piece and would be more inclined to accept footage from other locations. Also, we are based in Hong Kong so the actual FAA rules don't apply here. So, aside from the USA specific concern, what are the thoughts on the overall concept?
