Do you see what i see :)

This is a MOD im about to do as soon i recived the cam
at $69 shipping included i can't resist
It need somes Dremel work around as seen in the picture Orange highlights
the 4 posts that holds the lense pcb need to be shaved a bit to to make room
for the GP bus connector from Solo gimbal Notice: lense comes out of the bezel a bit
then anothers nochs on the otherside of the cam to lock it in side the gimbal
And Voila!!

Pro's: Good price replacement cam that fit inside the Solo Gimbal
Solo gimbal still function (rotate and tilt) without a GP connected
The Firefly Wifi App can change the settings on the fly

Con's: No Gopro/Solo App settings on the fly. Also need to be turn on before takeoff

PS:

This replacement Mod Cam is not to be compared to Gopro Vid/quality build

It's for any reasons like ...

Users who recived a Solo replacement after a crash but no Gopro replacement
somes might not want to buy another Gopro and rather like to sell Solo instead

For beginnes users who have the choice to use a cheaper cam to practice

For users in country where a Gopro is not avail or affordable

Well, I'm sure it has some quality and feature shortcomings, but the price is right if it functions.

Does the gimbal still function (rotate and tilt) without a GP?

There are some nice chinese cams out there but I'd miss the GP functionality. I play with the EV too much! :)

I thought camera WiFi must be off as to not interfere with solo wifi.

Personally... I wouldn't give you 10 cents for that camera, but it looks like a viable cheap solution with the Dremel mods. Let's see what the OP has to say after he flies it and makes some hard comparisons.

ETA: The OP keeps editing his OP, so I'm editing my post to make more sense.

Buying a Solo drone to put in it a cheap camera is like buying a Cadillac SUV to haul dirt and mud. It's the video quality that's most important when owning a smart drone.
GoPro 4S or 4B is what's best for Solo; your money for it will be well spent.

Neat plan. With the Solo costing $299, we have more than that invested in the GoPro's. When ever I try my first auto mission, it will be with something like you are doing, or just a Mobius on the fixed mount.

I notice a lot of that happening on the forum. I'm going to start quoting everyone.

remeber to balance the gimbal with weights to match the camera

To match the GPH4B - 88g?

If your camera weighs more than 88g, then what? I don't know this to be true but I assume the gimbal adapter and non-gopro camera exceed 88g.

No, you just need to balance it with weights. With the gimbal powered down, you should be able to move the camera by hand to any angle and it will stay there when you let go. If it droops to one side rolls up or down, it isn't balanced.
