"just been having a look at the developers guide for video:
Video Pipeline | 3DR Solo Development Guide
By my understanding, we should be able to change the encoding in the Solo to 1080p. It will be at a higher latency and use more bandwidth but the hardware looks like it can cope. Has anyone played with this yet or know which file holds the config for video encoding. It would be really nice to be able to output 1080p on the HDMI port, even with high latency, it means it can be used for live broadcast"

Response:
"Hi, I'm one of the devs behind the guide.1080p is a definite option, and we're just looking for ways to integrate it into the guide effectively. (It requires swapping out a kernel driver.) Follow along on this Github issue or email me if you want to try this out early. How do I get true 1080p output? · Issue #68 · 3drobotics/solodevguide · GitHub"

And the HERO 5 will have an option to output 1080P

Man.... Gotta love open source...

Gonna take some bandwidth an processing power...
According to the developers in the thread, the processing is there. The bandwidth would another question ;). I suppose it would depend on several
variables. Even cloae in though, that would be a great thing for live broadcast.
