After watching friends create beautiful videos and having fun with drones I've finally become a new pilot with a 3DR Solo. I'm fascinated with abandoned places and hope to use it for documenting these places. I also work for a mapping company and will be using it to capture content to use in some of our software.

Here's a video from my very first flight this past weekend. This was almost straight out of the box. Had to go through the process of updating the software on the iPhone, drone, goPro and all first, then setting up the wifi connections, etc. For the flight, all of the default nanny settings are still on and the camera settings were straight out of the box.

Thanks for reading and I hope to be posting a lot more in the future!

Welcome BlueDog! Looking good- don't think your horses were too happy with Solo lol!

If you tilt your gimbal down to, say, 85 deg. from 90 it will help keep the props out of frame. An ND filter will eliminate the prop shadows seen near the beginning of the video.

Beautiful place you have there- keep 'em coming!

Tilting the gimbal down a bit will also give more ground than sky, allowing the brightness to go up a bit.

In my experience, some horses dislike my drone too.

Dakota is a dunce. She's afraid of her own shadow. Some of the others at that ranch wouldn't care about the drone if it crashed into them.
