Turns out all the time on tech support the other day and the poking the bottom of the drone with the straightened out paper clip may have not been needed.
Looking at some papers I found out that I had changed the wifi password and forgot the new one.
In other words, I never could connect the other day due to a "senior moment."
And yes, I am flat out telling you that the drone got up in the air and back down without a wifi connection being made.
I was as shocked as anyone, and again when it was affirmed by tech support. His or her name was Gio.
There was no video feed to the controller, of course. I actually flew it a little way toward the nearby train tracks and back, about 30-50 feet.
The push button fly and land buttons worked well.
As far as my situation yesterday, who knows. I will tell you this. I really thought that I nailed the windmill video. I called a friend and told him that I couldn't be happier, that my problems with the drone were over. Then I got home and watched the video on my laptop. Three seconds, obviously taken in the middle of the video.
The long video actually was one of two made on the second battery flight. I landed after the first one and decided to do another with 52% battery left. Perhaps the Gopro shutoff. I didnot check it.
There were so many trains passing by until I got over there to film. Cold and windy, I sat there an hour before finally just flying and filming with my last battery. Of course, right when I was loading everything into the suv, two trains, coming from opposite directions finally showed up. Of course!
