So theres my house, there is the cell tower...
X marks where I want to fly off my front porch.

Neighbor owns all the land all around me and is good w/it.

Anybody got a clue whether the GPS/WIFI will be effected?
I know the guys who climb up there to do stuff wear lead helmets.

Just a guess, but I would say you probably don't want to fly your Solo anywehere you need lead helmets to keep RF from frying your brain :)

wish I knew, @ the top of that tower lives an Osprey family.
watch them take fish up there from the Lake.
dropped a pickerel on my roof once.

love to give it back with the drone.

or @ least take some family pictures:D

They must not get effected as the nest is in the center of all that juice?
I know they put BIG transformers in and ran 3 phase to it so......

flew over the bog to my right instead today... no issues... much fun in rabbit...

Wondered this myself yesterday I found a great spot but it and most of the open fields nearby have a cell tower in or near them. I figured better not but haven't heard a lot one way or the other. Doubt it's ideal but now days it may not be much worse than anywhere populated with the jungle of wifi I've found everywhere I check.

I have flown by a cell site a few times with out any issues.. Just looked to see if I had any good pics of it but I didn't.
I have flown at this spot about 4 times with out any issues.

These are the 2 places I have parked.

With solo I'm assuming, just checking since it seems to be a bit more vulnerable to interference than my phantom.

Thanks for the info!

I might take a chance off the porch now..

Hey, I don't suppose you'd check the top of THAT tower for Osprey for me?

I wouldn't stay on your porch ..

I wouldnt... I tried to set up while on a huge porch and solo went nuts. Magnetic interference had to calibrate gps and level.

too late.. I only get problems near my metal building on the far right..

now, do a venture across the street to the bog & tower?

ahhh...

Just in case anyone searches this topic and comes across this thread...
The men who climb Cel towers DO NOT EVER wear lead helmets, but rather hard hats. There are many different kinds out there, even shiny silver ones, but none are made from lead.

The ONLY interference you'll get from a Cel tower is caused by the EMI radiating from the equipment at the top, and you'd have to be very close (10'-20') for this to effect your drone. The frequencies that will interfere with the Solo is ONLY the 2.4 ghz band. No cel carrier in the world uses these frequencies (ATT/GSM = 800-900mhz, Verizon/CDMA = 1700-1800mhz to name the top providers). The biggest risk is losing GPS. The radio link between the solo and controller are less affected by EMI that the GPS receiver and again, you'd have to be pretty close for these things to affect the solo.

In case anyone doubts this, I built Cel towers for 10+ years in multiple states. I still have ties to that industry. Please stop falling for the ridiculous claims like above.
