And with a spike in drone ownership we are seeing the results of more idiots flying stupid and media using the incidents to turn the public against quadcopters and the hobby.

I see so many new pilots, especially on one of our sister forums, encouraging others to fly recklessly or irresponsibly, encouraging pilots to confront authority and to "flaunt our rights" as a way to make the public more aware of us.
I sometimes wonder if it is the people who want drones banned that are posing as new drone owners and encouraging this type of behavior simply to turn the public against us. It certainly would work for their agenda.
