Since the Mavic was announced, I had listed for sale a brand new Solo with a brand new backpack and a Gopro Hero4 Black with Peau 3.97mm - for £1000 (in UK). The idea was to swap my backup Solo for the Mavic. Can anyone guess how much interest I got for it? Yup, zero.

A $399 out-of-the-box Solo gets you nowhere fast. It cost me so much getting mine to a point where I'm (sort of) happy with it.

This is miles ahead of anything on the market. I can't think of a reason to buy anything else instead - can anyone?

This would be pretty slow and wasteful. The most efficient way to charge your batteries in the car is to use DC-DC converters. For any load over 120W use thick cables (8AWG) connected directly to the battery, but make sure you keep them short (cable resistance).
