    Mission Planner Ground my Solo

The distance you can fly should be the same if you fly manually or via a mission. The pc will connect to the wifi site which is hosted on the controller.

MP yes has circular suvey, is similar to what i described for tower. Not sure about qgroundcontrol. Suggest you poke around in the planning area. Bound to be something there for it.

Yes all there for years have a look at tower (android app) - it has a structure scanner. Set it us how you need, you click on the target on the map, set a radius, a start height, a step height, number of steps, the camera type and it does the rest, including triggering the gopro. I'm guessing...

Signal Lost, clear skies no obstructions near mishap.

When you lose wifi connection the controller does warn you. It'll give a little shake too. Chris

Tower and mp will allow you to setup a mission for a survey. Its sets up a trigger for the gopro by how far the solo is distance from last camera trigger point. It more reliable for overlapping. Very quick and very easy to setup. Do a search on this forum on how to do it. The info is here.

Gimbals without camera on it ..

Hi Chris, No problems. Ah yes it's the Dev Guide - hard to remember were stuff is from - was at work and didn't have much time to look at which 3DR manual / guide it was in but I knew it was written somewhere by them. I don't think you'll do much in the way of damage without the camera in...

Gimbals without camera on it ..

Yes it may damage or reduce its life. You can flip a solo on its back, so the motor are towards the ground and it turns off the gimbal motors. Its called turtling. Its in the manual....

Talk me into buying a solo

The gimbal code will dictate how long the platform goes for (consumer and low end professional ap). If it doesnt get released then maybe 1 to 2 years of useful life as an AP platform as the gopro just wont keep up. Not a resolution thing it will be dynamic range and lens quality issues that...

Talk me into buying a solo

No probs. On the batteries it appears 3rd parties are now or about to be produced (there seems to several non geniune ones out there, havent used them myself so dont know if they are any good). Much cheaper to just upgrade parts on an existing platform than purchase a whole new thing. That was...

Talk me into buying a solo

Ive not personally flown a Yuneec brand. You are looking at it very differently to how i look at these things. They are a tool to make something happen. There are times i'd like a Solo, there are times i want my custom rigs, there are times i'd use a Mavic, there are times i'd consider an...

Talk me into buying a solo

For your needs maybe but no other drone has the same smooth smart shots. So to me you're comparing apples and oranges. To me they are very different. I've flown both, if i want one for travel then a mavic is ok. If i want one to do cinematic shots, and repeatedly then the Solo is my choice...

    No turning back now...

If you want to powr it up turtle it. Flip it onto its back it disables the gimbal. Sent from my GT-P5210 using Tapatalk

    Solo for mapping

If your after reasonable results I'd suggest using the Solo with stock or modifed lens gopro is not a bad choice. For higher res or bigger areas you might need to reconsider but it does an area of around 8 football fields with a gsd of 1.5cm easily at 40m alt. Post processing, Pix4d is damn...
