PHOENIX — The desperate effort this week to find two hikers who disappeared at the bottom of the Grand Canyon represented the National Park Service’s most extensive use yet of drones in a search-and-rescue mission.

That's really cool to see the Solo being used in that circumstance, but really, I'd use a Phantom for better range and longer flight time...Mavic better still...both easier to transport to the flying location if a person is walking in.

And use Drone Deploy to upload a search grid, press a button and let the DJI product just go do it while watching the FPV in goggles. (I know the Solo can do that as well, but the Phantom/Mavic/Drone Deploy is just so damn quick/simple.)

Yeah, but the search and rescue team asked the Solo forum if they should buy the drone at Best Buy, because they heard 3DR was exiting the consumer market.
Someone said yes...
