International Travel - Customs?

Hey guys, traveling oversees (Ecuador in a few days) I got some questions...

1. Are there any updates for entering Ecuador and paying this 'import tax' people have experienced? Is this still happening?

2. How about taking the drone apart? I know is a pain, but worth not paying the import tax! After all it is not a drone, just parts?

Thanks guys. Anyone with info would be greatly appreciated it. Perhaps to an actual document from customs regarding this import tax.

Not sure if this makes a difference, but I'm going on a medical/Christian mission trip to Ecuador, so I wonder if for this kind of humanitarian travel customs would make exceptions?

As for customs, that's a decision you will have to make yourself based on your finances.

Biggest issue I see is getting your Li batteries on the airplane. Last I heard airlines don't like them at all.

I've flown on planes a lot with my drones. Not a single problem with TSA or airlines. But you MUST hand carry the batteries in the passenger compartment (carry on bag). They cannot be checked into the baggage hold.

I looked at things a little closer I think I found updated article... from July 20th, 2017. As long as it is <$500.

My only concern is how will they determine the price of the Solo? Amazon? E-bay? Random Search?
I don't think 3DR has prices anymore?
