GoPro Hero 4 firmware versions for best compatibility

Does anyone know the ideal GoPro firmware /os version to run in the GoPro Hero 4 cams to insure optimum compatibility with the Solo Gimbal?

V3 gives you stop start - v5 give you in camera linear correction (ie without a lense change) - but you loose stop start from the app.

I'm quite happy with the in camera correction so use v5 and start stop manually.

Gimbal development stopped before v5 so in guess in strict terms the answer to your question is v3.

I'm an Android and Solex user, Samsung Tab S2 tablet.

Same here I use v5 for linear fov. It’s only available on 2,7k at 30 fps or less. Power on off is what you give up. Start stop of video recording still works. Using Solex with Onn Android tablet.

I upgraded to 5. My cam still stops on Solo shutdown. Other than on and off I don’t think it matters much to the gimbal. Just ordered the Peau Production 3.97 lens for $40 which will give you no distortion at 4K. Also pay for the software pink corner fix from PP.
