Why would anyone expect the footage to look different/ better? They're still using a gopro like 3 DR and lots of folks.

With Gopro having their own drone what will be the support for our Solo if they become competitors. Will it limit Solo to current models of Gopro?

I'm sure 3DR has a contract with GoPro for ongoing support and licensing. They can't use their name and proprietary code without one (controlling gopro via gibmal). It's not just going to disappear unless GoPro decides not to renew the contract at the end of the period, whenever that is, but I would guess it is a few years which is typical.

GoPro needs all the help they can get right now just to survive as a company. They are tanking hard. Stock in the toilet. No new product before xmas (Hero5 delayed), horrible marketing, getting beat up in the press, etc. They can't afford to go ditching partners who bring cash into their struggling company right now.
