Gopro 3+ silver edition Can i start and stop video with this cam while in flight?

No. The lowest model that can be controlled remotely is the Hero 3+ Black. However, you can still use your 3+ Silver to get good video. Just manually start it recording before takeoff. It'll record nicely, and send its live video feed back to you so you can see what it's seeing, and you can still fully control the gimbal, and use the smart shots, and so on. You just can't remote-control the camera itself.
