controller charger detailed specs

I need to build a charger to recharge the controller battery in the field.

In contrast to the flight battery charger (being a CC/CV charger) I couldn't find any conclusive information on the controller charger. Does anyone have any indication that the controller charger is something else than a simple constant voltage power supply delivering max 1.5A @8.3V?

I never got around to looking at the controller battery too closely, but I believe they are just 18650 cells. Don't quote me. After I got the larger controller battery, I literally go several months in between charges so it just didn't seem worth it to add one to the charger I built. Also I didn't want a long charging cable hanging out with the plug.
