just purchased 3DR Solo. Is the camera mount a 3 axis system and capable of all the built in functions?
 
Depends on which mount you got with your Solo. If you got the package deal that included the gimbal which looks like this, then YES, it's a 3-axis system that can control most of the camera's functions:

However, the bare-bones Solo doesn't come with the gimbal which you have to buy separately. Instead, you get a plain GoPro mount that looks like this:

It doesn't do anything, and you can't control the camera from the app. It lets you plug in the HDMI cable, however, so you get a live video feed during flight, but the video recording (saved on the camera's SD card) will be shaky and not really very useful.

You get impossible shakey footage flying at fastest setting.
Other than that, it flies smooth as shit going through the drain on a public drain line.
But the bare bones solo COMES with the GOPRO THE FIX mount.
