Thanks to another member on this forum I came up with a solution for an inexpensive tablet holder / sunshade combo.

Here are the two Amazon items I purchased:
Tablet holder (this is the one that mounts up using stock hardware):
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00K5M6ARA/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Sunshade:

This is how I have it setup using a Nexus 7 (2013):

Again, huge thanks to Freebird32 for linking the mount:
Wanted: Solo Tablet Holder

"The original box for the tablet or the smart phone can be used as sunshade for free."
-McGyver
PS: Use your Swiss Army knife well.

Also, everything fits nicely in the backpack

Very nice. I was thinking of going the black ducktape/cardboard route, but am using a polar branded one for DJI. Not quite as good a fit as your solution. Sure with the 3DR ones were for sale anywhere but Australia and France. I like the look of them a lot.

Yes... McGyver! Also homemade Lanyard Extension (double fisherman's knot) shown with Quick Release Mini Carabiner and homemade landing pad.

does this fit on the stock ball that comes with the controller? I have a iPhone 6+ with a thick case and it doesn't fit into my holder without me taking the case off.

The "Stock Mount" will rotate to a Vertical Position. I've had my wife's iPhone 7+ fits in it just fine. The images below are using a Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 8" Model. I don't know why an iPhone 6 wouldn't fit the stock mount?

The 4 retention tabs that the stock phone holder has are identical to the amazon tablet holder.

My case makes it barley too big to fit horizontally and its to small to fit vertically. without my big otterbox case it fits fine. I just have to take it off every time and risk me dropping it. That darn iPhone is so slippery without a case.

Just got my order from Amazon and installed it. Works better than I could of hoped for. If you have a nexus7 this is bullet proof....
Thanks

I have yet to test it in the sun. If anyone has done so, how does it work?

I just ordered the holder and sunshade. Unfortunately it says I might not get the sunshade until March 16th!

So I just put my Nexus 7 into the stock holder and it fit fine. Is the purpose of this holder from Amazon to hold the tablet more securely?

I just received the one from Amazon. It works great! It can mess up trying to get to the buttons on your tablet, but if you get everything going, then put the shade on, it works. Simple is good.
