when you fly a drone the further you go the higher you must go

I think it is contract work for a company or government agency so they can not share at this point. I know they are doing some testing using local amateurs radio opps to assist. Tim

when you fly a drone the further you go the higher you must go

The university students are use near vertical incidence 80M on ground and an experimental 80 loaded wire, not sure how long or how it is mounted on bird

when you fly a drone the further you go the higher you must go

Check with any amateur radio operator, UHF, VHF and above are line of site only. If bird drops below horizon or objects it will loose connection. I know of one university that is working on drones using HF frequencies (1-30 Mhz) and near vertical incidence ground antennas to communicate over the...

    Solo Battery Calibration

The cell voltages is all I care about which it still reports correctly, I cycle and charge battery on my RC battery charger. I don't care about what the BMS reports as long as cell voltages and overall voltage get reported back to Solo. You will notice I kept the standard balancing connector...

    Solo Battery Calibration

This is my not so elegant but workable solution. i use hard case batteries and guts from old battery, leave battery guts plugged into Solo and just change battery, I use similar batteries on some of my RC planes so plenty to experiment with. Just secure with a velcro strap around battery and...

    Results using Battery Calibration Procedure

Yes old Solo Batteries Agree they are old and explains why suddenly a battery that may have looked OK at start of flight just suddenly fails. Lipos have gotten a lot better since these Solo batteries were manufactured. I seldom find bad cells in my RC plane batteries. Tim

    Results using Battery Calibration Procedure

Found that testing can kill batteries! Several of mine had cells go bad running 10A load to 14.5 volts. Better on bench than in air, these batteries only had less than 10 cycles and had preformed well for short flights. I think the aging cells are the cause of unexpected voltage drops when flying.

    Results using Battery Calibration Procedure

Been able to do lots of tests with my Rigol Battery Analyzer while home from surgery. After following the procedure and noting results after 48 hour charge I still find significant imbalance between cells. I did find that applying a light load say 2 amps and drawing down to 15.5 volts followed...

    GoPro connector mod question

The stock connector to GoPro prevents removing the SD card. I believe there is a replacement cable that will allow removing the card. Is it possible to just trim the stock connector to accomplish the same thing?? Tim

differences using GoPro 4 Silver and 3+ Black

Have 2 Solo's 4 Silver works fine on both. 3+ is another story. Updated to latest FW on 3+ Black because it was acting strange. When Solo boots up with 3+ hooked up (gopro off at start up) at the end of boot it initiates the Gimbal and the red light on 3+ is lights up, and only garbage in Solo...
