    Future of Solo

Scratch that, it seems that 3DR decided to remove the PWM pins from the Expansion Port for the production models. In fact, they removed more than just that; Pins: 3-4-5-6-7-8-18-20-22 are not connected to anything on the production Solo's Expansion Port. Their intent is to push using UAVCAN...

David is 100% correct. The two wires, SDA & SCL for the Compass i2c bus are not connected to anything on the Solo's GPS Module and are like Teats on a Bull...utterly useless. Solo has a Compass in its Right Rear leg that provides a much better orientation signal.

Adding a second GPS module is one of the reason I'm building the Solo Expansion module. (Here is a link to that thread) Solo has three unused serial ports that can be wired to for things like this. With only minor changes to the source code, it could switch to a backup or a different type of GPS...

Yes, I still have plenty of supplies and just today received the 6-Pin connectors that fit the ReadytoflyQuads modules. I will be sending them out this weekend.

    Solo Development and other innards..

It would be as simple as I thought, and I was ready with my stopwatch to see if I could do it with the source in under one-minute, but 3DR just upped the bar Big-Time. They are now publicly stating that the Solo's Artoo is Close Source. That's going to delay my plans on hooking an Arduino to...

A little more: I loaded a generic Windows 7 CDC Gadget Serial Driver and it connected right up as COMM17 Here is the link to the .INF I used. Linux-CDC-ACM.INF After loading that, and logging in using RealTerm it looks like this:

Someone asked me what the log directory looks like from mounting the USB device on the Expansion Port. Here is a screen shot: Note: If you build one of these, make sure the USB Cable is very short, like 24 inches max. Any longer and it has a problem staying connected. The good news is, it is...

    Future of Solo

I'm doing some testing and a few improvements to the form-fit-function, so it's going to be a little while before this is ready for Prime-Time. I'm going to switch from Surface Mounted (SMT) connectors to "Through-Hole" because after I did some stress testing of the SMT connectors, I didn't...

M8N Mod Video Tutorial and Test

It seems that the connector used on the M8N module sold at ReadytoFlyQuads is a JST SH 1.0mm Pitch, not a Molex PicoBlade 1.25mm Pitch like the GYGPS-V5-NEO-M8N uses. I have three different M8N Modules here on my desk. All three are from different vendors, but based on the standard GYGPS-V5 NEO...

    Future of Solo

There are 3 PWM Ports on the Expanstion Port, so I don't see any reason why not. I ran them out to three 3-Pin CLIK-Mate connectors and added +5VDC and GND to them. Marked as PW6, PW7 and PW8 What will be needed is to locate the fork of ArduCopter that Marco used to trigger the Canon's USB.

    Future of Solo

Some progress being made. I received my re-designed Solo Expansion Bay boards and assembled a couple. Plugged one into the Solo's Expansion Bay and a USB to my Ubuntu Linux box and it popped up with a few new devices, including a new Gadget named "Linux 3.10.17-rt12-1.0.0_ga+gdc67983 with...

All of the cables were sent out, but it seems that USPS had an issue at their Oakland California sorting facility and some of the packages were delayed. They now all show being at a facility close to the city they are being sent to. From the USPS tracking server: "The package is delayed and...
