I have read that you wont be able to turn the video recording on and/or off from your device if you are using a hero 3+. You can however start recording before you put the camera in the gimbal. The hero 3+ does send good video to the ground.

I am a solo newby and i think i am reading the manual correctly, but could use some help! I have a brand new solo with a 3 axis gimbal and a go-pro hero 3+ black. I am not able to start and/or stop the video recording from the android pad that I am using. Is the reason for this because I am...
