I have to my best ability reattached the ribbons, and the strange 3 wire power connector. Regarding this power connector, what I check with a meter, it seems the red wire is negative and the black is positive. Can I get a confirmation on this? I have even tried to plug in the USB and battery...

Are you testing if it will turn on with it completely open (not reassembled)? It's likely one of the ribbon cables that is now not seated fully.

New software just released does not require a USB port to remove the lens profile.

Current remote profile app was broken recently when GoPro changed the way their website works for manually downloading firmware. We'll have a brand new version coming out next week which will completely fix this issue and also support Hero 5. Any further questions please let us know.

Since the lens profile is removed the corners will be slightly darkened. If you are taking photos we recommend brightening the corners in your post process workflow if you want to reduce the natural vignette of the lens. The dark corners shouldn't show up when using video mode since the corners...

Thanks for the info on the QR code and txt file, we'll let other customers know. We only deal with new cameras typically and have never come across a serial number that was unreadable so we never had to look for it elsewhere.

With this remote option the profile is not backed up, that option is only available if the camera is sent to us. If adding security to prevent the software from being "hacked" was not a concern we would have released it a lot sooner. We're not saying it's impossible (it's software after all)...
