tower surveying, solo speed and picture rate

thanks for the information, i'll give the beta a try. since i haven't been able to get tower to work so far, i still don't quite have an answer to the original question of this thread, but hopefully the beta will at least allow me to experiment. appreciate the insight. love pdx, btw - would...

no, i've got the non-beta version. wasn't sure of the difference, and was a bit leery of "beta." does the beta choice work better?

tower surveying, solo speed and picture rate

...and sorry, i just realized i hijacked my own post by referencing the use of MP instead of tower which was the original question. personally, i get an error every time i try to arm the solo with tower, so have been using MP on a laptop instead. but that's a different post....

i agree, chris, that simply changing the overlap settings will not do the trick, since MP still assumes the 4:3 orientation of the camera is with the wider dimension perpendicular to the direction the solo is flying. i have set up the MAPIR setting in MP so it's using those in its calculations...

tower surveying, solo speed and picture rate

yeah, that is nice. I thought about using the static mount for the MAPIR, but at this point I've been using both the MAPIR and the GoPro at the same time, as backup. how in the world did you get 21 minutes out of a solo? multiple flights? so far the best I can ever get is about 12-13 minutes...

tower surveying, solo speed and picture rate

I'm still evaluating the difference at this point. I've only flown one mission so far with the MAPIR camera, and the narrower field of view, along with the fact that it's mounted sideways on the solo, resulted in images that did not have enough overlap to complete a decent point cloud. I...

tower surveying, solo speed and picture rate

at this point I have not calibrated them. I've got a visible light model and have been using the images for point cloud generation. so far, I've just used them straight out of the camera.

drone: i've not yet used the fiji plugin for the mapir images, so unfortunately i cannot help you.

tower surveying, solo speed and picture rate

thanks guys, good information and I appreciate the help. jubair: so, a speed-change waypoint before the survey will affect how tower calculates the survey? that's good to know, and makes this easier. I also typically try to use around 15 mph for surveying, but hadn't figured out how to get...

tower surveying, solo speed and picture rate

sorry if this has been asked before, but I cannot seem to find this information. I'm new to tower but not to solo. when planning a survey mission, tower seems to calculate in the background the speed of the drone and how far between pictures that it triggers. however, I cannot seem to find...
