What are you using as your tablet? - Another Poll

I use a Nexus 7 and ipad mini. The nexus I have Tower loaded (although I have only used that once). I use the ipad mini for FPV flying because the screen is clearer and bigger. I find overall I use the Nexus 7 more. It just seems to work better and I state that with no objective reasoning. I...

My solo takes a long time to acquire the satellites

Update: first I tried some cardstock paper with a rubber tape backing. I cut it to the entire shape of the GPS board thinking it would be even better. 12:56 to acquire 9 satellites. So that is a failure. Then I tried using cardboard in the same manner. Zero improvement. So out of anger and spite...

My solo takes a long time to acquire the satellites

and this is why I joined this forum! Thanks guys!! Upon further research, due to the direction you all pointed me, the shielding coming in direct contact with the GPS board is the underlying issue. The mod kit is out of stock but I found this video which has a Solo owner using a piece of...

My solo takes a long time to acquire the satellites

My solo is taking a solid 8-9 minutes to acquire satellites to fly. It is highly annoying because I have to wait to fly and I wants to fly now! I flew yesterday morning with clear skies, open field, 8 minutes to acquire the satellites.... Any suggestions before I contact 3dr?

Venting about idiots who don't follow the rules

I agree, sales numbers are not readily accessible and no one has done an analysis of the different sizes of drones or percentage of sales. I based my numbers off the presumption that there are two owners for every one registered owner, which is also tremendously arbitrary. We really only know...

Venting about idiots who don't follow the rules

I just was reading about the new drone recommendations regarding flight over crowds. It got me thinking about the current FAA registration process for recreational users like most of us. I am fine flying within the restrictions set by the FAA. I have no desire to fly higher than 400 feet at this...

    Solo drone floats prototype

I tried the camera and I can barely see some green in the bottom left corner which is easily cropped out. I was pleased when I found the green noodle for just that reason!

    Solo drone floats prototype

Ok, here is round one. I played around with it this evening. Sink tested and it works. I used a design I saw a while ago on youtube with a phantom. The pool noodle was cut into two 12" sections and one 14" section bisected. I used zip ties and a large band to keep it in place. The 14" bisected...

    Solo drone floats prototype

I am going to try a build on this over the next week. I read that 1 foot of 3.5" diameter pool noodle should float about a 4 lbs. Even though most pool noodles are 3", at 3.9 lbs the solo should still float easily with two 18" cuts and one cross bar cut of the pool noodle. If I'm successful...

    Case "Mountain" In Connecticut

Good call on the ND filter! I just did some research on it. When I turn toward the sun I get some weird black wavy lines on the video. Do you think the ND filter will help with that too?

    Case "Mountain" In Connecticut

I did a hike to the top of Case Mountain in Connecticut yesterday afternoon. It is not so much a mountain as it is a hill or steep stroll through the woods at 700+ feet above sea level. There are nice views of Hartford Connecticut, which, due to visibility, was a little hazy in the distance. I...
