Help me Mod the $#!+ out of my Solo

Momentum theory - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia If you are after flight times, they are linear in prop diameter and proportional to 1/mass^1.5. So, lose some weight and increase prop diameter. You can probably do that with stock motors. IIRC a fair amount of weight can be saved by dremeling...

    3DR GPS Shield

I tested the absorbers that I evaluated for Solo. If you're planning on using an absorber, 3DR is selling the correct one, but it is still a half-measure. I don't know what to tell you here. What were you looking at in u-center? Did you have a control? Was the GoPro recording? Was the GoPro...

    3DR GPS Shield

Did you connect uBlox uCenter and compare the reported signal-to-noise level for a selected satellite and/or the reported speed accuracy with that of a control GPS? I hope not. In my testing, combinations of foil tape and absorber performed worse than absorber alone.

    3DR GPS Shield

FYI, the GoPro in the gimbal reduces the signal-to-noise ratio reported by the GPS by around 12dB. Adding the RF absorber that 3DR is selling attenuates that noise by about 6dB. If you wrap the GoPro in a faraday cage (like this: Shielding a GoPro's EMI / RF Noise - Hovership) you will eliminate...

Has anybody installed the M8N- GPS with the mast?

It's probably more like the RF signal chain is better designed. The M8N is known to present a tradeoff: it is a dual-band GPS, which means it has to have a wider-band RF frontend. This means it will be more susceptible to noise than the 7N. GoPro is known to be noisy. You might find that doing...

GPS Lost on Solo - FW 1.3.0

Making sure the antenna pin is not touching the shield is a good idea. You might also find that shielding the source of the GPS noise is very effective: Shielding a GoPro's EMI / RF Noise - Hovership
