You're right, it's not there anymore. They may have discontinued it due to lack of demand. Let me look around my mess, I'm pretty sure I have an extra one. I always buy 2 or more of everything.

Traveled extensively with Solo in its backpack with 5 batteries. So far, no problems. Backpack will NOT fit in small commuter planes' (Canadair RJs, Dash 8s, ATRs, etc) overhead bins.

Understood, I have the Mini 4 and like it very much. It works great with the Solo app and other drone apps as well. So, if you want to use only the (no longer updated) Solo app you're fine. If you'd like to keep current with Solex then you do need an Android device.

My next build is an Align M470 with Pixhawk 2.1 and a CUAV Hacklink, carrying a Z-cam E1 on an iflight G40 gimbal. Hoping to get close to the functionality and features of the newer RTF offerings.

IMO, the one thing you should NEVER buy used: batteries.

Considering any attempt at DIYing a similar setup would probably easily exceed the high part of your estimate, I'd say if they wanted to be competitive with the I1Pro (which it seems squarely aimed at) they'd have to price it just under $3k with lens, and that's what I'd be theoretically willing...
