Tower vs mission planner or any other.

I have been flying for a long time now manually. Now I need to figure out and explore the planned mission software for my Solo. My plans are to perform missions to self learn NDVI and surveys.
Any one out there want to add their two cents?

I found this site that gives good insight. But I am also looking for real users and their experiences.

I have been using mission planner for a few months now. Very simple and works very well, good documentation through their wiki. It will take you though getting the waypoints set and can also trigger the camera in the correct spot. I would recommend reading up on aerial surveys to get the basics on setting up the mission and how the photography part really works.

Any recommendations for good aerial survey reads?

I have tinkered with mission planner for a UAV competition. Today I connected to tower for the first time. It seems simple but I was not able to see the live caMera feed. A few times the app crashed and the solo app had a hard time restarting. Even locked up the gopro feed.
