It's not there yet. You can set the go pro to take stills intermitantly. I have mine set at 5 seconds. Of you see something cool just stay there for 5 seconds so it gets the shot.

You can also take "Video & Stills" at the same time. Look in GoPro manual on how to do this.

Hmm, it looks like 3DR misinformed me as I asked this on their FB page and they stated with the current FW its possible to take a still photo via one of the buttons on the controller.

I obviously never got to the point of having a gimbal but was my understanding you could start or stop video and take still photos from the app.

With current firmware, either the red button on the ap or pushing in on the tilt controller will either start a recording or take a picture, depending on how your GP is set. If in video mode, it will start/stop recordings, and if in picture mode it will take a picture. I believe that one of the future features is to use the tilt button for video and the 1 & 2 button on the right for picture taking.
