Solo Gimbal Question

The video link above shows how my gimbal has a sticking spot thats about 3 degrees down from straight out and it seems to keep the camera from tilting up too high. Is this normal? Of course I can appreciate the fact that the camera doesn't look up too high but something seems odd about it.
 
one don't handle the gimbal that way.
throw a camera in it and power it on, do the tilt from 0 -90 and see if it flows smooth
 
I'm sorry. I would've assumed they were handled like this at the factory. There is hardly any way to avoid articulation of the yoke. Installing the foam gimbal protector is harder on it than what I was doing.
 
A thin ribbon cable winds up on the pitch stem. Remove that cover to reveal, possibly it is hanging up on something...

edit: Actually the gimbals are fairly stout.
