has anyone tried this? Does it work? I'm hesitant to buy. Any insight is helpful.

sure. It works as intended. Now, how do you plan on getting video from the GoPro to your controller, mounting it to the gimbal and controlling it at more than 40 or 50 feet away?

I would not do it. You can't have the GoPro on hotspot mode, it will mess up the link with the controller.
Even if Bluetooth worked, I think it is risky and very limited range. The GP5 won't even fit on the gimbal, or connect with the HDMI cable. You are better off just buying a knockoff camera with an HDMI port to mount on the fixed GoPro mount.

good point . i do have a 4k knock off i am going to try to use with the fixed.
