Everyone seems to have their own version of modifying A Solo. This is my version. I went with The
Tiger Motor MN3110-26 470kv and 15 inch props, so that I could stay with a 4 cell battery. I still have work to do on it, but I have at least test flown it and with the stock solo battery I am drawing around 14.5 to 15 amps at hover. I have not timed my flight time yet, but I am expecting to be around the 20-minute mark. I am currently at about 5 pounds with Gimbal and Camera. I would like to lower it a little bit, but don't think I can remove much without major redoing. So far I am happy with the results.

Still working on details, but I got an 18.5 minute flight with the stock battery and 23 minute flight with a 4S 2600 mah battery in parallel.

Since the solo is so cheap these days, i am thinking about using one to put on the main body a quad with a bout 600 - 700 mm frame. Drewjet, I see in your first post here that you used different esc and motors. is that just a matter of replacing with bigger ones or is there something in the solo that reads a signal from the motor pods?

Just replaced motor and ESC.

After looking at the pods that I cutoff the frame, I think I could have made pod extenders and done it a lot easier and faster, and probably lighter. I saved the cutoff pieces and may try fabbing them anyways.

i like the way the solo operates and the features it has. I am just hoping it wont be too difficult to adapt to another frame. of course i won't know until i try.

Here is my FrankenSolo, Its based off a Tarot 650 sport, I bought a complete mainboard for 30 bucks extended the gps cable, yes that's a version A GPS but it locks on to 10 sat's in 40 seconds with a 0.9 HDOP ..The compass is in the normal leg position attached to a carbon arrow shaft all looks good in mission planner and it calibrated just fine. I'm not sure on the antenna placement though? (Any comments, Help, is certainly welcome), and thanks in advance.
I'm currently waiting on wire, connectors and such..And it will eventually have 600Kv Motors, 40 amp Esc's and 14 inch props..*Note the landing gear retracts by long pressing the pause button and one short press to return to landing position, just for the coolness factor no real practicality..

These look great! Quick question, (probably silly sorry), are you all running Arducopter master, or Solo on these builds? Do the smart shots still work (I assume if you get smart shots you are running Solo, not master).

I am interested in making a hexcopter using two solos someday. Thanks!

I am currently running Solo. I intend to get the green cube and go with master at some point in the future. Because of that I have full functionality of the gimbal and all solo smart shots

New job has me travelling...alot. Finally got the green cube installed and on open Solo. Thx P2P!
I was having an issue with the motors not running smoothly, almost like they were cutting out. I suspected this was due to the 3 volt signalling. With the green cube and 5 volts this has gone away, at least in my brief testing. When I get back from my next trip, I hope to get more testing in, now that I have more confidence in it not falling out of the sky
