Charging GoPro battery

I got my first Solo in December, I got my second one (the one used in this test) a week and a half ago. I updated the firmware the day I got them. So, this firmware update was done not quite two weeks ago. Maybe there is an update out there that not everyone has yet? Maybe later versions undid the removal of the charging? Who knows, just wild speculation at this point. How does 3DR communicate updates to the firmware? Also, if 3DR disappeared tomorrow, how would new owners get the app or the updated firmware? Does 3DR have a page where they list the most up to date versions of the firmware for each piece of equipment? I've looked on their site but couldn't find anything that mentions version numbers.

In the end it doesn't really matter if Solo charges GoPro or not on a particular set up, but it was interesting to test it out.
