Hi
I have a 3DR battery that has an SMBus and two power connections to it. What is the SMBus for? What devices talk to a smart battery any way.

SMBus is standard battery management communication. Its in most if not all laptop batteries, pretty much anything Lithium requires you to have some sort of battery management. For safty reasons weather it be external to the battery or internal.

Lots of topics on this. Im currently working on an Arduino project to read it. Search this forum on this topic. Lots of projects going on. Someone out there made a battery status reader as well.

There must be some standard device that uses it. Not just Arduino's . Were does one get the SMBUS protocoled to talk to a battery.

On the Solo, SMbus is how the battery communicates all it's status information to the vehicle. This includes on/off, volts, amps, % remaining, mAh capacity, serial #, temperature, etc.

Is there a list of want SMBus Command executes what smart battery functions. Or is all of this secret.
